Cisco Networkers 2009 – Firewall Design and Deployment | 590 MB

This session addresses Cisco firewalls and how they are used to enforce security policy around the network. It includes best practices as part of a case study that illustrates these various techniques in practice and options on how they can be implemented. Common design scenarios are covered for both the ASA firewall appliance and the Cisco Firewall Services Module, including virtualization and transparent (Layer 2) mode. Pros and cons of each design are discussed in depth. Participants should have a working knowledge of TCP/IP and understand general networking and packet flow. This session focuses on the Cisco ASA Adaptive Security Appliance and Firewall Services Module and does not cover any Cisco IOS based firewall solutions.

Provide security against risks associated with e-mail has become a burden for most IT professionals in 2006. According to a recent study by Postini, spam and email viruses now lead to 80% of all e-mail, compared with 50% in 2000. As a result, IT professionals now in a most difficult in providing network security for the amount of spam. IT professionals also have the disadvantage of defending against new forms of email threats such as spam zombies, directory harvest attacks,Trojan mass mailings, as well as the latest virus e-mail.

In this article, I have the seven most effective spam fighting tips for organizations referred to e-mail servers home. These seven tips are proven techniques that I use for my clients, partners and employees that their scope (network desire to forge) security used.

1. Firewall:

A firewall is the first line of defense against hackers, crackers and spammers. Without a firewall, the network is a disastercoming our way, and could at any novice hackers free reign on the network. If your organization has multiple users of the Internet is the tool to protect your network is essential.

2. Block port 25:

If the IP address from search rDNS does not match the domain name, it is probably spam. If you have not already done so, install and configure reverse DNS entries on your DNS server.

7 Anti-Virus Scan:

There are many tools that provide adequate anti-virus protection for desktops at work.
