The software projects will deliver requirements for the Global Banking and Markets business as well as their customers, including eCommerce and sales features, as well as operations, finance and middle office teams. This is an opportunity to work on a core application infrastructure team within a top tier bank. It is important for the candidate to have enthusiasm, commitment and a positive attitude as well as being a strong team player. It is also essential for the candidate to have good interpersonal skills and the ability to discuss, analyse and accurately document technical issues. Essential Experience: (Must have skills) Technology Experience - A proven track record of design, architecture, development and delivery within investment banking. - Ability to work effectively with cross border development teams. - Ability to take ownership of the product and providing vision , strategy and roadmap - Ability to evaluate new technology stake and contributing to the wider engineering/architect group at firm level - Strong development experience in Core Java, j2ee, Open Source - Strong understanding of version control, build management, and deployment practices - Development of high performance, low latency, multi-threaded concurrent applications and strong database skills - Involvement in designing global, fault-tolerant, high-performance physical architectures Business Experience - Experience working within a tier one investment bank or equivalent environment - Exposure to a high pressure front office environment - Ability to work closely with the business Excellent communication skills, Focused on delivering what needs to be done, Strong personal ownership and ability to set and meet high professional standards, Flexible and responsive work style, Ability to multi-task and work under pressure Supplementary Experience: (Useful additional skills) - Development experience on implementing portal solutions on JBOSS/Websphere portals. - Java remoting, profiling, garbage collection and JVM tuning - Experience in UI frameworks like GWT, Swing, Awt, JSF , Spring etc. - Exposer to Test driven development, JUnit/Fitness testing framework, mock objects (e.g.: JMock, Easymock) - Good SQL knowledge, SQL performance tuning and experience with at least one of Sybase, SQL Server or Oracle Education Qualification : - Minimum 7- 8 years of experience in software development - A qualification from an Engineering College, MCA (honours/ 1st class) JD for Designer This role is to provide analysis, design, development and implementation of new software and systems and BAU enhancements and support of existing applications. Team structure: Global development team delivering front office client facing sales and distribution solutions. - Team Function and responsibilities: The team develops & supports a number of high profile GUI/API-based applications. - Role specific responsibilities: Working as a Java Developer to develop, evolve and support large-scale /high-volume business-critical Java systems and portal applications. As directed by Project Manager, contribute to or lead software development lifecycle management, requirements definition/analysis and feasibility analysis Provide significant input to technical design of new solutions applying current software design techniques Decompose design into development plan tasks and provide accurate estimation of effort Own the specific parts of a solution from design and development through to test and implementation Mentor and develop the technical skills of other software developers Essential Skills (Must Have) A proven track record of design, development and delivery OO development experience with Java server-side development in large scale, high volume, multi-threaded business critical applications Good design skills using n-tier architectures Solid database skills (preferably Sybase and Oracle) Java JDK 1.4/1.5 Use of open source Java technologies (e.g. Spring / GWT/GWT-EXT/Hibernate / Maven) Team Player, Delivery-focussed, Self-driven, Thorough, Enthusiastic, Excellent communication skills Good to have skills Development experience on implementing portal solutions on JBOSS/Websphere portals.
